A Day at the Races
It was dry this morning so I wrapped up and went down to 3 Sister's Race Track to get some action pictures with the K10D
I may have mentioned before that the K10D is now a decade old and I had been having issues with the focus when I bought it. Having tried it on a few static scenes I thought it would be interesting to see how this old camera dealt with moving objects.
One of the first lenses I bought for my K-r was the Pentax DA 50-200 WR. I had since upped the game with the 55-300 so the 50-200 needed some exercise too (lenses don't like being left unused).
I set the exposure compensation 1 point over normal and shot in RAW+ so that I could compare the Pentax jpg images against what I might go for later in post processing. It was a close run thing but I have a little more latitude in RAW so shan't be giving it up.
For simplicity sake I might leave it in RAW+, the file sizes are not too big by today's standards.
Shortly after arriving, these Superlights went on track. I took a couple of pictures of these but I was there for the bikes.
The camera was doing well at the lens's zoom limit so then I tried panning. Thankfully the K10D has a flip switch to turn off the stabilisation system, which will ruin a panned shot.
I won't bore you with more of the same but suffice to say I was happy with the K10D once again. Great camera at a great price.
I will just include this unexpected overflight by a swan that caught me off guard. Had I been quick thinking I would have used the flash but instead I have gone for an arty look, which I quite like.
Thanks for looking and send me an email if you need a photographer in the North West of England.
