The Start

The Start

My father taught me the art of photography when I was the tender age of 9 years old. Back then it was with a Rollie twin lens reflex. You know the type of camera I mean, two lenses on the front and you look down into the viewfinder?

Not my image but you get the idea.

Back then it was always black and white pictures because it was a simpler process in his darkroom, and that was as close as you got to Photoshop back in the 70's.

******************************

These days things have changed enormously. I use Pentax cameras. My first DSLR was the the Pentax K-r, which I bought whilst my Photography was a hobby and my day job took priority. The pictures were of such high quality that I have kept that first digital and consider it a backup camera.

An example from the K-r

My main camera is the K-5II which I chose for it's Weather Resistant body, higher dynamic range and ergonomic layout. It also increased file sizes but remained realistic. It also meant that I was able to swap and change lenses with the K-r

The K-5II is an excellent camera for low light situations

I have also recently bought a secondhand K10D camera, circa 2006. This was because. back then, Pentax were employing a CCD sensor instead of the CMOS sensor used in more modern cameras. I'm afraid this was out of a photographers curiosity and I am enjoying the slightly different colours it produces. An experiment, on my part, more than anything but another lovely camera that may end up playing backup.

Well that's enough from me on this first page.

If you need a photographer in the North West of England I would love to hear from you. Email me from the link and I'll get back to you. I'll post again on more specific topics and thanks for looking
